Job description: Let's introduce ourselvesTest Facilities Development is part of Engineering Operations (91000) within Volvo Cars Engineering. Our core responsibility is to develop, procure and install facilities for testing and prototype builds.
We provide advanced engineering services ranging from initial pilot studies to fully operational facilities, covering both minor equipment and large-scale installations. Most of our work is carried out in project form, in close collaboration with internal customers, purchasing department, consultants and external contractors.
The Test Facilities Development team consists of 19 employees, supported by consultants through bought services.
What you'll doAs a Project Manager/Computer System Engineer, you will be part of a team with primary focus on control and computer systems. You will be responsible for defining and leading projects and assignments aimed at delivering test solutions for our R&D test facilities.
Typical laboratories and facilities include battery labs, electrical powertrain and motor testing, crash testing, durability testing, pilot plant, concept centre and more.
Within our investment projects, you will be responsible as a project manager for computer systems, IT networks and control systems with the cyber security setup. The results from the test equipment consist of measurement data used in our car development projects.
Our work spans the test automation area, from early investigations to industrialization. The role requires participation in investment projects with responsibility for time, functionality and cost. This includes budget work, follow-up, planning and coordination of internal resources and suppliers.
Together with internal customers, you will gather requirements and create use cases to be used in requirement specifications. The role also includes installation, commissioning and acceptance testing of test equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
• Creating specifications and technical solutions together with relevant stakeholders, both in early project phases and in approved projects
• In collaboration with the purchasing department, managing requests for quotations and participating in procurement and project follow-up of test automation systems
• Participating in engineering, installation, commissioning, final testing, and coordination activities
What you'll bringYou would bring strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills as well as technical knowledge of cybersecurity principles, automation and test systems. You have clear and effective communication and interpersonal skills. You are highly organized and experienced in complex projects.
You carry a B.Sc./M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent. You would have at least five years of experience of data technology or industrial automation. You carry strong knowledge in data technology, industrial communication, data acquisition, requirements gathering, use case creation, process analysis and test automation architecture. You bring experience from testing and/or automation systems as well as acquainted with project-based work. You are fluent in both written and spoken English.
You are curious, eager to learn and driven to explore and innovate. You are customer focused and committed to deliver high quality results. You are flexible and able to initiate tasks even when not all information is available at the outset. You are organized and structured, with excellent communication and documentation skills.
