Overview
As a Data Center Technician (DCT) within Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) organisation, you will help build, maintain, and support the infrastructure that powers Microsoft's global cloud services.
In this hands-on role, you will deploy and configure hardware, perform troubleshooting and diagnostics, and support hardware refreshes and decommissioning activities. You will follow established operational procedures while helping to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of Microsoft's datacentre environment.

Responsibilities
- Deploy, install, configure, and stage datacentre hardware according to established standards and procedures.
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting to quickly identify and resolve hardware issues while minimising operational impact.
- Replace faulty components and perform hardware repairs following standard operating procedures.
- Conduct post-deployment quality checks, ensuring equipment is correctly staged, labelled, grounded, and cabled.
- Execute hardware decommissioning activities, including upgrades, refreshes, and simple infrastructure changes.
- Follow established incident management processes, escalating issues to appropriate technical and operational teams when required.
- Support and provide guidance to technicians working on complex tasks and projects.
- Complete role-specific training and continuously develop technical knowledge and operational expertise.
- Collaborate effectively with teammates by sharing knowledge, participating in team discussions, and supporting operational goals.
- Demonstrate accountability for service quality, operational excellence, and the overall customer experience.
- Maintain compliance with Microsoft security, safety, and data management requirements.
- Embody Microsoft's culture and values in all aspects of work.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, components, and IT infrastructure.
- Experience supporting IT equipment, technology systems, or related technical environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional experience supporting IT hardware, datacentre infrastructure, or related technologies.
- Industry certifications such as:
- CompTIA A+
- CompTIA Server+
- CompTIA Network+
- Basic Structured Cabling (BSC)
Security Requirements
Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including:
- Successful completion of the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
