About the role
Every screen a consumer taps through, and every surface a merchant sees Klarna's name on,
is a decision someone made — the layout, the wording, the visual identity holding it together.
That someone is a designer, and at this level, the work spans both: shaping product flows
people use every day, and shaping how Klarna looks and feels wherever it shows up.
This is a general Senior Designer opening, not tied to one fixed team. Depending on need at the
time of hiring, you could be placed on a product team working on a specific consumer or
merchant flow, or on a brand-facing team shaping visual identity and campaigns — and your
focus may shift as the business changes. Either way, you'll be expected to move between the
two: designing a screen one week, and making sure a brand guideline holds up across a dozen
touchpoints the next.
What you'll do
● You'll design end-to-end product flows, from early concept through polished, shippable
interfaces.
● You'll shape and apply Klarna's visual identity across the surfaces you own, keeping
brand and product design consistent with each other.
● You'll prototype ideas quickly to test direction before committing engineering time to
them.
● You'll work directly with product managers, engineers, and other designers to turn a
rough problem into a specific, buildable solution.
● You'll use AI tools as part of your everyday design process, not as a separate
experiment.
● You'll give and act on design critique, and hold your own work to the same bar you'd
apply to someone else's.
Who you are
● You've worked as a designer across both product and brand work, not just one of the
two.
● You can take a flow from a rough idea to a finished, usable interface on your own.
● You understand how typography, layout, and visual identity carry through consistently
across different formats and touchpoints.
● You use AI tools yourself as part of how you design, not just to talk about using them.
● You can explain a design decision — including the ones you rejected — to both
designers and non-designers.
● You're comfortable moving between different kinds of design work as priorities shift.
Bonus points for
● A degree in design, visual communication, or a related field.
● Experience designing for a regulated industry such as fintech or banking.
● Motion design or animation experience.
● Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system.
